On the Biosample Hub platform companies and biorepositories can find each other and get in direct contact. Biosample Hub staff will also introduce you when needed. For example, if a biotech company submits a sample request and we think you can help, then we will let you know. Direct communication brings many benefits – it is easier to make arrangements like setting up prospective collections. It is also easier to understand each other’s needs. The platform includes all kinds of tissue biorepository and tumour bank, with disease-based and genetic biobanks.

The biorepository does not need to sign any contract with Biosample Hub. So there is less hassle. Furthermore, there are no contractual restrictions. You can interact freely with biotech companies on the platform.

We put biorepositories and companies in direct contact. So, the provider knows the identity of the end-user, and this facilitates full sample traceability. So the biobank manger can ensure that samples are only used in accordance with the patient’s wishes.

This platform is run by a not-for-profit company with no shareholders. So, we reinvest any financial surpluses into the company. Any transactions between the company and the biobank are independent of the platform. Furthermore, Biosample Hub does not charge any commission.

Is there a membership fee?
No, non-commercial biobanks do not pay any fee to join and there are currently no fees for using the platform. Only the company members pay a fee as explained on the company page.
How do biobanks join?
A biobank representative just needs to complete a simple form to provide us with information for your biorepository profile. Then we create your biobank profile on the platform and send you login details.
Does Biosample Hub handle individual patient data?
No. Biosample Hub does not process, store, or directly handle individual patient data or identifiers. Such information remains strictly confidential and is managed exclusively by biobanks and biotech companies.
We only collect liquid samples. Can we join?
Yes, certainly! In fact, liquid samples are often requested.
Will I need to sign a contract?
No, you do not need to sign a contract to join Biosample Hub. In fact, all you need to do is observe the terms and conditions provided on the website.
How do patients benfit?
Patients benefit from Biosample Hub activities because of two factors. First, we increase the traceability of patient samples, so this helps ensure that samples are only used in accordance with the patient’s consent. We also increase the visibility of biobanks, which increases the utilisation of biosamples that were used.
We only collect prospectively. Can we join?
Yes, definitely! Prospective biosample collection has many advantages and is much in demand.
Can commercial brokers join?
No, this platform is for non-commercial biobanks only.
What kind of biobanks can join?
The platform is open to all non-commercial biobanks, including all kinds of tissue biorepository and tumour bank, as well as disease-based and genetic biobanks. Veterinary biorepositories are also welcome to join.
